What should the Guidelines be for Commercial Exergame Suppliers?

Exergame Supplier Code

Install to budget

Do not exceed a customers maximum spend to complete any installation

Complete all Works

Customers should not be left with unusable equipment or rooms. If this is not possible then customers should have a list of what is needed and what will be left for them to supply after the works have been completed - i.e. batteries, games, programming.

Use Appropriate Equipment

The exergames installed must be best fit for the customers needs and the advice given in selection should not be influenced by stock levels, profit margins or inventory listing. Customers should be made aware of the limitations of equipment, including age ranges and weight limits.

Undertake Maintenance and Repairs

Make it clear if anything goes wrong what will happen, and how long it will take to be resolved. The customer should be happy with the costs of such an arrangement and the associated costs are. Be clear to the customer what preventative maintenance needs to be undertaken.

Age Rating

Make sure that everything is ok for this topic.

Important: Do not trust your partner in this topic. Most of the people do not know anything about this topic. Also most of the people ignore this topic.

Make your own research and get everything written down on paper! (For some countries this kind of gaming is new and they have to update their laws!)

Exergame Manufacturer Code

Do not make unverified claims

Do not attribute false benefits to products that cannot be independently verified. Do correct false assumptions made by third parties in the original instance and in any other replicated instances.

Do not infringe patent or other intellectual property

Ensure all technical implementations are free of intellectual property or seek licence from the originator.

Be honest about warranty

If your exergame product will invalidate warranty on a games console or other first or third party device not part of the purchase, this must be clearly stated.

Disclose functionality and limitations

Descriptions of the functionality of a product should be made clearly. Do not lead consumers to assume extra levels of interaction if none exist.

Do not use research on competitors products as your own

All research should be quoted and clearly using the same equipment that is being advertised.

Check out for "age rating" of the games in some countries, e.g. Germany and Australia!

Never show an video game that has not age rating in public area in Germany!
